2011 VW Touareg
VW Touareg is a large SUV that was the first attempt of VW Group to attack the so competitive SUV market niche. The first model has been relatively successful. It proved to be very reliable and able to deliver both great comfort and off-road performance. The only problem of the first generation was that it lacked style and its automatic gearbox was a bit sluggish. The Touraeg platform was used in the Porsche Cayenne as well. Actually the two cars were almost identical in terms of mechanics and electronics. The big difference came from the packaging and of course the engines. Nevertheless, VW released a brand new model this year. According to the Germans the new SUV will eliminated all of the previous flaws and will go one step further by providing an exceptional value for money. The new car looks smaller, but it isn’t. It has integrated LED lights in the front and in the back. The aerodynamics have been improved significantly which have led to better fuel consumption, less noise and better handling. One thing is certain the new car looks better than the old one. What is exceptional in the new Tourages is that it is now 200 kilograms lighter than the previous generation. This however hasn’t compromised the comfort, or the stability or the safety. The SUV is actually more refined and has better handling. The secret of course is the air suspension that can be adjusted according to your preferences. You can choose from comfort, sport and normal. The interior has been improved as well. The materials used are of greater quality and everything feels fantastic to the touch. The inside of the car is very roomie. The engines will be quite a few. A 3litre TDI green diesel with either 204 or 240bhp, a 3,6 FSI with 249 or 280 and a 4,2 litre FSI with 360bph. The top of the range model comes with a 4,2 V8 TDI with 340 bhp.
